Rucking, simply put, is walking with a weighted rucksack. Rucking has proven to have many benefits including burning up to 3 times as many calories than walking. Men's Heath wrote a great general article about rucking that I encourage anyone who in interested in rucking to check out.
If you want want to get your feet wet and start rucking, join other members of Lethbridge Sports and Social Club for regular rucks in Lethbridge.
Included in the Ruck Club:
9 – Ruck 101 – Civic Field at 7 p.m.
You’ve seen us ruck and now is your chance to get your feet wet. Come on out with your rucksack, some weight and see what rucking is all about.
Every month there will be a new Callout. Some will be relatively simple, others will be a little more complex. You may have to do a little extra planning to make it happen, but hey, it’s a challenge. It’s not supposed to be easy. When you complete the Callout and earn the exclusive patch… for free.
There has to be a catch though, right? Of course there is.
Patches are available on a first come first serve basis, and limited to the first 200 people who claim them. Each patch will be outlined with what is required to earn it. Distance goals, ruck weight requirements, number of people who show up, sometimes even the weather. It all matters.
Last month everyone had to get a little (a lot) wet and get those miles. Something to get you outside of your comfort zone, cause no one cares what you can do when everything is going according to plan. The good news is that no one is going to have to get wet this month, unless you want to of course.
This month in honor of summer winding down and before it gets too cold we thought we’d run a good ole fashion Ranger Panties Ruck. So track down your RPs and get some sun on those thighs.
Bonus points for rucking through busy public spaces and making sure everyone sees what you’re bringing to the table.
Beginner: If you are under 150 lbs., carry a 5 - 10 LB weight and if you are over 150 lbs. carry 10 - 20.
Intermediate: If you are under 150 lbs., carry a 10 - 20 LB weight and if you are over 150 lbs. carry 20 - 30.
We highly recommend a weighted plate that is flat against your back, but not everyone has a weight plate, so get creative and load up your rucksack.

"Maybe you’re still not sure about GORUCK yet but you want to do something because everyone tells you how great the people are and that it’s worth it. They’re right by the way and welcome to GORUCK Light. It means lighter vibe, lighter loads and less time commitment, which means more time to party with your class after you’re done. Fun fact: never sign up and you’ll never know. But the average completion rate of those who show up is 100%. If you can do a 5K, you can earn the GORUCK Light patch."
